Chikkaballapur, Karnataka, 13 October 2026: Rotarian Lal Goel, Founder & Charter President of the Rotary Club of Organ Donation International (RCODI) and Chairman of Organ Donation India Foundation & GYAN, held a productive and wide-ranging brainstorming session with Prof. Dr Dayananda, a distinguished orthopaedic surgeon, Head of Department, Professor and Chief Coordinator of the Organ Donation Programme at Sri Madhusudan Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (SMSIMSR), Chikkaballapur, Karnataka.
Founded by His Holiness Sadguru Sri Madhusudan Sai, the institute is distinguished by its commitment to providing free medical education, accommodation and meals to all its students. Spread across a scenic 150-acre campus nestled among five hills, the institution reflects a vision of selfless service, accessible healthcare and excellence in medical education.
The discussions centred on the current status of organ donation in Karnataka and across India, with a particular focus on identifying practical, sustainable and collaborative strategies to strengthen deceased organ donation and improve access to life-saving organ transplantation.
Rotarian Lal Goel emphasised the need to establish a free, multi-organ transplant centre at the institute, particularly to serve economically weaker sections of society. He stressed that financial constraints should not prevent deserving patients from accessing life-saving transplants. Strengthening the deceased organ donation network and ensuring that potential donors are not lost due to gaps in infrastructure, coordination or financial support were also highlighted as key priorities.
Rotarian Lal Goel assured Prof. Dr Dayananda of the full cooperation of the Rotary Club of Organ Donation International in expanding public awareness about organ donation, mobilising community participation and supporting eligible economically weaker patients in accessing financial assistance under the Ayushman Bharat–Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY).
Prof. Dr Dayananda appreciated Rotarian Lal Goel’s unwavering commitment to the cause of organ donation and expressed the institute’s willingness to collaborate in strengthening organ donation awareness and advancing transplantation initiatives in Karnataka.
Expressing his gratitude, Rotarian Lal Goel acknowledged the visionary leadership of His Holiness Sadguru Sri Madhusudan Sai and his commitment to making healthcare accessible to every citizen. He also thanked Prof. Dr Dayananda for his openness, valuable insights and constructive engagement, expressing hope that the discussions would pave the way for meaningful collaborative initiatives to save more lives through organ donation and transplantation.
