Public Works Minister Shivendrasinhraje Bhosale Supports Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’ Visionary Leadership; ₹27,132 Crore Road Development Project Approved

Mumbai, June 23, 2026: Under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis and the guidance of Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister Shri Eknath Shinde and Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister Smt. Sunetratai Pawar, Maharashtra is witnessing unprecedented momentum in infrastructure development. As part of the ambitious vision of Viksit Maharashtra 2047, a project worth ₹27,132 crore has been approved under the Maharashtra Amritkal Road Development Scheme 2025–47 for the upgradation of 2,857 kilometres of roads across the state, informed Hon’ble Public Works Minister Shri Shivendrasinhraje Bhosale.

To strengthen connectivity for the state’s industrial, agricultural, port, mining and tourism sectors, the concepts of Growth Corridors and Tourism Corridors are being implemented effectively. These initiatives are expected to accelerate Maharashtra’s holistic development.

At present, road improvement works covering nearly 19,000 kilometres are underway across the state under various schemes. In addition, as part of the Viksit Maharashtra 2047 mission, 6,000 kilometres of roads will be upgraded in the first phase.

The ambitious programme has secured financial assistance of USD 1 billion from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) and the New Development Bank (NDB), providing world-class financial support for Maharashtra’s infrastructure development.

The scheme is not limited to road construction alone but also serves as a model for environmentally sustainable development. Along with road development, it will include tree plantation, water recharge initiatives, modern road safety measures and social infrastructure facilities.

Speaking on the occasion, Hon’ble Minister Shri Shivendrasinhraje Bhosale said, “Under the leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister Shri Eknath Shinde and Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister Smt. Sunetratai Pawar, a new chapter in road development has begun in Maharashtra. This scheme will strengthen the state’s transportation network, boost investments and provide a new direction to Maharashtra’s economic, social and industrial growth.”

The project approved under the Maharashtra Amritkal Road Development Scheme 2025–47 is set to become a historic and far-reaching step towards realizing the vision of Viksit Maharashtra 2047.
