Dr. Indu Rani Jakhar, District Collector of Palghar felicitated at ECAMEX 2026, India’s mega electrical and energy exhibition

Dr. Indu Rani Jakhar, an officer of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) currently District Collector of Palghar since April 2025, was felicitated by Shri Devang Thakur, President , ECAM at ECAMEX 2026, India’s mega electrical and energy exhibition, marking 101 years of the Electrical Contractors’ Association of Maharashtra (ECAM).
With over 8 years of experience in administrative services, she has served in several key positions:
- Gadchiroli (SDM and Project Officer): In this Naxal-affected area, she focused on creating employment opportunities for tribal communities and improving the quality of education in residential schools.
- Ratnagiri (CEO, Zilla Parishad): She worked on rural housing schemes (Gharkul), piped water supply projects, and the development of basic infrastructure. Additionally, she successfully managed health facilities during the COVID-19 pandemic.
- MAVIM (Managing Director): Through the Mahila Arthik Vikas Mahamandal, she empowered women, strengthened self-help groups (SHGs), and provided market access for women entrepreneurs under the ‘Nav Tejaswini’ project.
- Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (Commissioner): She led Smart City projects, the development of urban parks, and new civic infrastructure initiatives.
Role as Palghar District Collector

Under her guidance, the following major projects are underway:
- Vadhvan Port Project: She is managing land acquisition and administrative coordination for this ₹76,220 crore project, which is set to be the largest port in the country.
- Infrastructure: She has successfully completed land acquisition for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train and the Mumbai-Vadodara National Highway. Furthermore, work on the Virar-Alibaug Multi-Modal Corridor and the Uttan-Virar Coastal Road project is progressing under her supervision.
- Tourism and Livelihood: Her goal is to develop scenic spots in Palghar to establish the district as a premier tourism hub in Maharashtra.
- Honors: During her tenure, Palghar district secured a position among the top three districts in Maharashtra for the effective implementation of the ‘Adi Karmyogi’ campaign.
Vision: Her primary objective is the holistic development of Palghar, maintaining a balance between infrastructure, the social sector, tourism, agriculture, industry, and tribal welfare.
