A Decade of Navneet Foundation’s Teachers’ Training Programme

Mumbai, 3rd September 2026: With the objective of empowering teachers with knowledge, skills, innovative teaching methods and a positive outlook, thereby enabling them to enhance the quality of school education, the Teachers’ Training Programme undertaken by Navneet Foundation has successfully completed 10 years. As part of its social responsibility initiative, Navneet Foundation established the Teachers’ Training Programme in June 2016. Initiated from the vision of Mr. Anil Gala, Director of Navneet, the programme has been successfully led by Ms. Basanti Roy, former Education Officer, for the past 10 years.
On the occasion of this year’s Teachers’ Day, a Decade Completion Celebration will be organised on Thursday, 3 September, at the auditorium of Navneet’s office in Dadar. Mr. Rajesh Kankal, Deputy Director of Education, Mumbai Division, and Dr. Vaishali Veer, Education Inspector, South Mumbai, will be present as the Chief Guests. Experts and teachers who have made valuable contributions to this initiative will also be felicitated on the occasion.
Navneet conducts continuous free training programmes across various parts of Maharashtra, including Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai, Pune, Nashik, Satara, Kolhapur, Sangli, Solapur, Osmanabad, Latur, Nanded, Yavatmal, Bhandara, Chandrapur, Amravati, Akola, Jalgaon, Dhule and Nandurbar, covering highly relevant subjects such as Activity Sheets, Mathematics, English, Marathi, Scholarship Examinations, NEP 2020 and School Leadership. So far, through approximately 670 workshops, the programme has enriched nearly 35,000 teachers. At present, training sessions based on the newly revised textbooks are being conducted. Teachers from both aided and unaided schools benefit from these training programmes.
A distinctive feature of Navneet’s training programmes is the in-depth planning of training sessions by identifying experts in respective subjects, well-prepared trainers, activity-based workshops instead of conventional lectures, adoption of group-work methodology, and a high-quality workshop experience. Over the years, many teachers have shared feedback that these training programmes have helped improve the quality of classroom teaching as well as enhance the results in school scholarship examinations.
During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, when schools were closed, the initiative launched the ‘NavDisha Portal’ and ‘NavDisha Mobile App’. Through these platforms, teachers today have free access to educational articles, videos, Government Resolutions, Government Circulars, book introductions and success stories, among other educational resources. Approximately 20,000 teachers benefit from the NavDisha Portal.
