Mumbai, April 10, 2019:  Study Wellington in association with Education New Zealand organized an engaging event in Mumbai, which brought together education representatives, students, counsellors and parents under one roof. The event witnessed the presence of Mr. Shane Rangi, New Zealand Actor and Stuntman who spoke about Wellington, the coolest little capital in the world offering unique educational experiences in the field of Animation, VFX, digital design, multimedia among others to Indian students.

WellingtonNZ’s Education Manager Brook Pannell highlights how the Wellington region is home to three universities, 18+ higher education providers and 246 schools. “There are over 8,500 international students studying in Wellington’s multicultural and vibrant society. The city offers students the opportunities to explore a vast range of educational offerings along with extracurricular activities such as sporting events, festivals and musical gigs to keep them entertained, enabling them to grow holistically.” “Indian students stand to gain an excellent quality of education and mentorship with the plethora of innovative courses offered by Wellington based institutions.”

The event included a Student Expo where students learnt more about Wellington as an internationally recognized hotspot of creativity, the home of New Zealand’s Oscar-winning film industry along with its world class educational institutions. Academics from five institutions delivered ‘masterclasses’ to give students a taste of New Zealand’s education system.  During the event, students also had the opportunity to learn secret stuntman tricks from Shane “The Kiwi Rock” Rangi and witness the transformation of an artiste into a Hobbit-inspired creature by Special effects makeup artist Dany Pike, from Wellington’s Te Auaha Institute of Creativity. Students also observed the award-winning garment at The World of WearableArt known as Knight of Fire, designed by Maria Tsopanaki & Dimitri Mavinis.

“A large majority of Indian students have traditionally looked at pursuing Business and Technology courses, however we are now seeing an increased interest in enrolling for unique and innovative courses in the creative fields in New Zealand. The Study Wellington event offered Indian students an opportunity to explore these courses and also experience New Zealand’s creative industry first hand.” says Jugnu Roy, Education New Zealand Country Manager – India. Wellington, the capital city of New Zealand, was named the world’s most livable city in 2017 and 2018 by Deutsch Bank, and as a world leader in preparing students for the future by The Economist.
