Resounding Success – Peace March by CREDAI-MCHI Kalyan Dombivali Unit

January 13, 2018: To make their voice heard, CREDAI-MCHI Kalyan Dombivali unit undertook peace march yesterday, January 12, 2018, to protest against the exorbitant open land tax, which was joined by over 8000 participants representing the developers, engineers, contractors, suppliers and labourers. Sadanand chowk witnessed the great action from where the march started for KDMC, office.

The march was the culmination of massive and consistent efforts made by Mr Manoj Rai, President, KDU, Mr Vikas Virkar Secretary along with their managing committee members of the unit, KDU Past President Mr Johar Zojwalla, Mr Praful Shah, Mr Ravi Patil and Deepak Mehta made this herculean task possible owing to their motivation for huge participation. CREDAI – MCHI President Mr Mayur Shah, PP Rajanibhai  Ajmera, President Thane unit Mr Ajay Asher, Mr Sachin Mirani and Mr Nayan Bheda were there in full support.

As you all are aware, open land tax in Kalyan Dombivali Municipal Corporation (KDMC) is 20 times higher as compared to open land tax in Thane & Pune Municipal Corporations, owing to the wrong methodology adopted by KDMC. CREDAI – MCHI KDU made several representations right from the Municipal Commissioner to the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra in last 5 years. Still, the issue remained unresolved hence all the developers were left with no other option but to unite and silently raise our voice.

Thus, the developer fraternity displaying affinity towards the cause, and transcending on their mission to provide affordable housing to the common man, gathered for this march to press on their demand of reduction in this tax.  After peace march, Team had discussions KDMC Commissioner KDMC Shri P Velrasu (IAS) forwarded his proposal to reduce open land tax by 65% for the approval of in next general body of KDMC. Respected Hon’ble Minister Shri Ravindra Chavan & Mayor Shri Develekar assured that OLT will be reduced in next billing cycle.

Most importantly, Hon’ble Chief Minister has been positive and keen about it thus raising the hopes of  Kalyan Dombivli unit of this issue getting resolved soon.
