PIFA Sports lads go down fighting

Mumbai, June 2: A determined PIFA Sports (Colaba) Under-17 lads showed good understanding and put up quite a strong challenge for Yawn FC but went down fighting 0-1 in a keenly contested First Division match of the Mumbai Football Association (MFA) League 2022-2023 and played at the Neville D’Souza ground, Bandra on Friday morning.

The youngsters from the PIFA Sports outfit took the fight to the opponents’ camp and had their share of goal-scoring opportunities, but were unable to capitalize on the chances. After 65 minutes of intriguing battle, Yawn FC finally managed to break the deadlock when Shubham Pharande succeeded in finding the back of the net to help his team snatch a satisfying win.

Later, Kenkre FC Under-17 youngsters scored at the death to salvage a honourable draw with Vipul Gorai FC in another First Division encounter. Kenkre FC took the lead when Hanzala Kapadia converted a penalty in the 36^th minute, but Vipul Gorai fought back and restored parity with Muntu D’Souza scoring the equalizer in the third minute of first half additional period.

After the change of ends, Vipul Gorai managed to score a second goal through Rahul Salian to take a 2-1 lead which did well to hang on to and seemed set to clinch a win. But, Kenkre striker Arhaan Bhat dashed Vipul Gorai’s hopes striking a late equalizer in the fifth minute of additional time.

In the third First Division match, Bhagesh Raut’s lone second half striker enabled Sagar Sports Club get the better of Madanpura Sports Club by a narrow 1-0 margin.

Results – First Div: Yawn FC 1 (Shubham Pharande) beat PIFA Sports Under-17 0.

Vipul Gorai FC 2 (Montu D’Souza, Rahul Salian) drew with Kenkre FC Under-17 2 (Hanzala Kapadia, Arhaan Bhat).

Sagar SC 1 (Bhagesh Raut) beat Madanpura SC 0.

Third Div: Dazzlers FA 2 (Sai Suvarna, Mahesh Kanojia) beat Kapadia Nagar FC 0.

CFCI Hedgewar Boys 6 (Ayush Gujar, Gauresh Sharma, Anay Desai, Ansh Parmar, Dhruv Vyas, Aman Solanki) beat Ravens FC 1 (Fahadali Khan).

Ummat Milan FA 1 (Ateeq Ansari) beat Tipu Sultan 0.
