Water conservation is life conservation: Mr. Subhajit Mukherjee.

Gandhi Memorial National College in Ambala Cantt recently hosted a seven-day workshop on “Environmental Conservation and Sustainable Development,” featuring renowned environmentalist Subhajit Mukherjee from Mumbai. Mukherjee, founder of Mission Green Mumbai, and LEAP India emphasized practical approaches like vermi-composting, solid-liquid-plastic waste management, and rainwater harvesting.

Mr. Mukherjee is instrumental in Mission Green Mumbai, A citizen-led movement focusing on tree plantation, environmental awareness, and sustainable practices since 2010, Planted over 3,62,000 trees, amplified Mumbai’s green cover, and earned the title “The Green Man”. GMN College, Ambala Cantt, Haryana has organised this Workshop with the motivation of Mr. Mukherjee to Raise awareness among youth about environmental conservation and sustainable development in collaboration with Mission Green and LEAP India.

Mr. Mukherjee spoke about practical approaches like vermi-composting, solid-liquid-plastic waste management, and rainwater harvesting.

A live demonstration cum instalment of water conservation Blue Barrel percolation device was done in the college campus. Followed with 4 More installations to Catch The Rain. The event was inaugurated by the college principal, Dr. Rohit Dutt, who highlighted the importance of such initiatives in developing students’ environmental consciousness.

Mr. Mukherjee’s session covered actionable steps for green and sustainable development, engaging students with scientific and practical aspects of environmental protection . This initiative will engage and enlightened 2000 students to work on water conservation and various climate action activities
