Impressive HDFC Bank shock Bank of Baroda
Mumbai, June 11: HDFC Bank put up an impressive display to score a stunning 1-0 win against defending champions Bank of Baroda in an Elite (Corporate) Division encounter of the Mumbai Football Association (MFA) League 2022-2023 and played at the Neville D’Souza ground, Bandra on Sunday evening.
The HDFC played with solid determination and showed good understanding and combined well as a unit and did well to pull off the win against Bank of India who were not at their best.
Striker Sanket Shinde rocked the Bank of India goal from a snap effort in the 30th minute to take the advantage. Thereafter, Bank of Baroda tried hard to break through the HDFC bank defences but they were unable to have a clear shot at goal. The HDFC Bank defenders also put up a dogged performance to deny Bank of Baroda from scoring a goal.
Earlier, Kankre FC had things much their own way and romped to a fluent 7-0 win against Bodyline Sports Club in a Women’s Super Division match. Leading Kenkre’s charge to the big win was striker Nishika Prakash who scored four goals while Dharitri Nandy, Diya Puri and Isabel D’Souza added one each to complete the winning tally of goals.
D’Souza Football Academy girls also enjoyed an easy outing as they blanked Rising Sun FA by a clear 4-0 margin. Striker Mariyam Khatum struck two goals while Gaia Ferro and Tanishka Das contributed one apiece to secure the win.
In a closely contested match, Mumbai Knights FA got the better of South Mumbai United by a narrow 1-0 margin. Namrata Thakur scored the lone winning goal.

Sagar SC 2 (Praful Mangela, Devendra Dhanu) beat PIFA Colaba Under-17 1 (Sanju Rathod).
Elite Div: HDFC Bank 1 (Sanket Shinde) beat Bank of Baroda 0.
