Industry can play the biggest role in making the Indian economy number one: Shri Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport and Highways

“Given our growth, the time is now right to turn the Indian economy into world’s no 1 economy. The Indian Industry has the biggest role to play in this,” said Shri Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Government of India. He was speaking at the 2nd edition of ‘Sankalp Se Siddhi Conference – New India. New Resolve’ jointly organised by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
The Union Minister further reiterated, “The AtmaNirbhar Bharat demands integrated thinking. We need industrial development as well as investment in agriculture, rural, tribal & forest industries. We need investment, innovation, research and best practices for success of new initiatives.” He sought CII support to enhance Maharashtra’s agricultural growth rate from 12 per cent to 20 per cent as part of the Sankalp Se Siddhi initiative.
Smt Meenakshi Lekhi, Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture, Government of India noted, “India has progressed well since Independence. The literacy levels, food security, and infrastructure have made a progressive change, and this will continue in the Amrit Kaal.” She further emphasised that it is our responsibility to rise to the world’s challenges. Industry and government are partners in achieving the common goals, according to the Minister.
The inaugural session was addressed by Chief Minister of Maharashtra Shri Eknath Shinde in his first interaction with industry since assuming office. He emphasised, “Our government is focuses on creating 15 industrial corridors in Maharashtra, and is adding a few fresh corridors in the state.”
Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra Shri Devendra Fadnavis spoke about the vision of the government. “Maharashtra has set itself huge targets for infrastructural development. Projects such as bullet train and biggest deep draught port developments are picking up at a good pace. Our infrastructural growth is phenomenal.”
Mr Sanjiv Bajaj, President, Confederation of Indian Industry, in his remarks spoke about how CII is undertaking various initiatives to support the Government achieve Sankalp Se Siddhi. “CII proposes to skill 1.5 lakh youth & facilitate placement of more than 2 lakh youth in the private sector. We will add 20 more Model Career Centres across the country, taking the tally to 60,” he stated.
Mr Chandrajit Banerjee, Director General, CII, highlighted, “Sankalp Se Siddhi conference is our collective effort towards an inclusively developed India for a sustainable future of a clean, green, energy efficient India@100.”
