IMC Chamber of Commerce and Industry organizing a Conference on “Make Mittelstand in India” Mr. Kewal Handa, Chairman, Union Bank of India and Mr. Indranil Mukherjee, Country Head, B. Braun Medical (India) Pvt. Ltd. was the Guests of Honour.
In his inaugural address, President, IMC Dr Lalit Kanodia welcomed the organization of the conference – Make Mittlestand in India which is of great importance to the SME Sector, which has a direct bearing on the nations’ economic growth and job creation. He said the main issues confronting the Indian SMEs were the restricted flow of organized credit and called for a policy framework which would take into account the technology innovations, the enabling environment for entrepreneurship development, the ease of doing business and the initiatives in imparting skill development capabilities to the youth.
Mr. Suresh Prabhu, the Union Minister of Commerce in his special videographed message stressed on the importance & SME sector as an entity, which is the backbone to economic growth and enlarge employment prospects. He assured that the new industrial policy has studied to include all critical enabling factors to boost the SMEs in Indian economy.
Earlier, Mr. Kewal Handa, Chairman, Union Bank of India, informed of the various SME friendly measures undertaken by the bank. He said the GST is a great tax incentive in blockchaining of all transparent transactions.
Mr.Bernhard Steinrucke, the DG Indo German Chamber of Commerce, also spoke of the German experience of Mittlestands and their contribution to the nations growth in terms of experts, employment and contributor to forex. He said the main reason for German SME success stories was the quality focus, marketing focus and use of technology. He also said that the concept of treating employees as a one close knit family was another major reason for success. He exhorted Indian companies to participate in the German trade fairs to keep abrest of the latest technology and innovations taking place in Germany for their use.
