FIA Global, India’s leading banking and financial services platform has been one of the preferred choices for go-to remittance solutions for the Nepali migrant labour force working in India. It is a one-step smooth transaction sending money back home in Nepal. In the last quarter of FY 2021-22, FIA has witnessed a 60% increase in remittances to Nepal on its digital-remittance platform, iRemit. As the name suggests, iRemit is a platform that helps customers remit their money. The Nepalese labourers working in India use iRemit to remit funds to send it to their families and friends in Nepal. FIA Global has successfully brought millions under the banking umbrella in India and Nepal.
Manoj Bhat, is a FIA Banking agent who migrated from Nepal to India in 2009. Today, he helps Nepali workers in India to send money to their families and friends in Nepal through a convenient transfer option, from. FIA to Prabhu Bank in Nepal. From 2009 when Manoj migrated from Nepal, to 2019, when he started money transfer exchange services as a FIA agent, it has been quite a journey. At first he worked as a helper in an automobile repair workshop for two years and then at a canteen, earning around 15K per month. Today with a sizable jump in his monthly earnings, Manoj Bhat can give a better quality of life to his family.
His initial experience with money transfer exchange services was not a pleasant one. Due to operational challenges faced during transactions, he decided to switch over to FIA to provide better services to his customers. Today Manoj does approximately 200-220 transactions in a month. So far, he has more than 6000 transactions to his name. Most of his customers are daily wage labourers, who are working as cooks in restaurants and canteens, as security guards, and as auto repair mechanics, and do not have access to bank accounts. To this segment, Manoj is a trusted name and FIA is a trusted brand.
Manoj Bhat offers Indo Nepal remittance services through the FIA kiosk (from where he works). Majority of his customers are Nepalis who have migrated to India from Nepal in search of a job. Manoj’s services help his customers safely transfer their hard-earned money safely back to their families in Nepal, which they otherwise would have either saved or kept with them till they went to Nepal. Either of the cases are not a safe way of handling their hard earned income. Sending the money through someone is also not a preferred choice for they would have to give the person a commission of 2-3% , which is a dent on their hard-earned money. Therefore, remittance through FIA is the best option for safe and hassle free transfer of money.
Other than FIA facilitating Manoj’s dream of helping Nepali migrants to conveniently send money back to their home, has also helped Manoj enhance his quality of life as a successful FIA agent.
FIA’s digital remittance platform – iRemit, is now servicing over 15k transactions every month; this is a platform that is instrumental to Nepalis working in the remotest parts of India providing a ray of hope through a channel of trust and reliance.
