Divyaj Foundation Hosts Yoga and Meditation Session for 650 + Differently-Abled People on International Yoga Day

Mumbai, 21st June 2019: Divyaj Foundation the brainchild of Mrs. Amruta Fadnavis, Banker and Social Activist, hosted an exclusive Yoga and Meditation Session for 650 + differently- abled people on the occasion of International Yoga Day, 21st June 2019.
The event witnessed the presence of Popular Bollywood Actor Suniel Shetty, Padmashree Ms Deepa Malik Arjun Award winner along with other dignitaries including Members of legislative assembly Maharashtra Mr. Mangal Prabhat Lodha (Mumbai) and Mr. Mahesh Landge (Pune), Mr. Mazhar Nadiadwala- Managing Director Dome.
Speaking on the occasion, Popular Bollywood Cine Actor Mr. Sunil Shetty explained how Yoga helped him to get fit and develop a career. He urged all the participants to inculcate yoga in their life and reap the benefits.
The Yoga & Meditation Session was conducted by Health & fitness guru, Dr. Mickey Mehta & Mrs. Rajalakshmi Iyer. Dr Mickey Mehta explained the importance of Yoga for healthy living and motivated the differently-abled people on how they can be self-reliant and play a key role in the society. The one-hour yoga session saw the participants performing various yoga poses under the guidance of Dr. Mickey Mehta.
Padmashree Ms. Deepa Malik, (international sportsperson par excellence and recipient of five prestigious President of India Awards and honors) spoke at length with all the differently abled participants and shared her life experiences. She gave the participants some simple suggestions and advise which will enable them to rise to their strengths and achieve success. All the differently abled participants could relate to her very nicely.
Mrs. Amruta Fadnavis commenting on the occasion, “the constitution of India ensures equality, freedom, justice and dignity to all citizens and implicitly mandates an inclusive society for all including the persons with disabilities.Differently abled citizens very much a part of the society. Differently abled does not mean unable. With their experiences, perspectives they are able to bring unique and innovative solutions to the various challenges they face in the society. They should focus on their skills and strengths rather than their impairments. By embracing their differences, they should spark innovation while challenging assumptions and inspire change”
For the third year in succession Divyaj Foundation, under their vision of empowerment through inclusion has been celebrating YOGA date on 21st June. The previous year’s participants included children of farmers who had committed suicide and street children of Mumbai
The core team of Divyaj Foundation consists of Mr. Sampath Iyer (Trustee), Mrs. Pallavi Shrivastava (Trustee) Mr. Kavin Shah (Core Member) Mrs. Rajalakshmi Iyer (Core Member). Mrs. Amruta Fadnavis and Advocate Shri Sunil Manohar are the advisors to the Foundation.
