TARANGINI GLOBAL ONLINE CARNATIC MUSIC CONTEST 2023 Vashi Artiste Praveena Gouthaman Wins First Prize

Vashi has added one more diamond and glory to its bejewelled crown. Vashi-based global artiste Smt. Praveena Gouthaman won the first prize in the Tarangini Global Online Carnatic Music Competition 2023 held a few days back. After succeeding in the preliminary and the semifinal rounds, Smt. Gouthaman entered the hotly contested final with aplomb. There she aptly chose Kamboji raga (ata talam) which is a royal raga, majestic like a caparisoned elephant during a temple festival. It is one of the most prominent ragas in Carnatic music. Praveena unleashed her prodigious musical prowess at two speeds to awed admiration and utmost delight of participants, panel of eminent judges and the viewers across the world. Praveena ‘s pitch, intonation, crystal clear diction and impactful articulation expressly impressed all. She was adjudged numero uno (number one) in the Carnatic Vocal Varnam category for senior artistes.
Sikkil C. Gurucharan, foremost among young performing musicians of Carnatic music in India today was the judge in the final.
The competition was organized by Gaayak, a holistic global music education platform offering over 75 courses in vocal and instrumental categories. Accepting the award, a rejoiced Praveena modestly said that she owed all her triumphs to her Guru Sangeetha Kala Acharya, Smt. Radha Namboodiri.
