Dadar Union snatch narrow 3-run victory

Mumbai, April 27: Dadar Union Sports Club bowlers produced a disciplined match-winning performance to help their team snatch a tense and thrilling 3-run win against Victory Cricket Club in a Group-B match of the 2^nd MCA Under-19 Cricket Tournament organized by Bhama CC in association with Mumbai Cricket Club and played at the Sunder ground, Cross Maidan.

Put in to bat first Dadar Union only managed to score 164 runs for the loss of 9 wickets from their 20 overs. Aadit Degaonkar 46 runs and Owais Shaikh 33 runs lifted the Dadar Union innings. Victory CC bowlers Akash Pawar 3 for 40, Arush Patankar 2 for 23 and Shiva Maurya 2 for 37 claimed the wickets.

Defending a low target, Dadar Union bowlers rose to the challenge and dismissed Victory CC for 161 runs in 34.3 overs. Anuj Giri 3 for 21, Aadit Degaonkar 2 for 28, Zaid Patankar 2 for 35 and Ashley D’Souza 2 for 40 runs were responsible for securing Dadar Union’s close victory. Aditya Paralkar 44 runs and Pratik Yadav 37 runs were the two Victory CC batsmen to offer resistance to the rival bowling attack.

In another match of the same group, Fort Vijay CC also clinched a tight 5-run win against Islam Gymkhana at the latter’s ground. Batting first, Fort Vijay CC were bowled out for a healthy 215 runs in 30.5 overs. Ankit Yadav 63 runs and Devasnh Rai 53 runs were the leading batsmen to stay long in the middle. Islam Gymkhana bowlers Pranay Rana 4 for 40, Himanshu Rai 3 for 29 and Yaseen Shaikh 2 for 53 picked the wickets.

Later, Islam Gymkhana looked to be a control, but they were unable to accelerate the scoring rate and were restricted to 210 for 9 wickets from their stipulated 35 overs. Arpit Dhadve 55 runs and Prathmesh Wandre 41 runs tried to keep Islam Gymkhana in the chase, but the impressive bowling efforts from Sidhant Rai 3 for 41 and Sahil Jadhav 2 for 41 foiled their chances of snatching a win.

Brief scores: Fort Vijay CC 215 all out, 30.5 overs (Ankit Yadav 63, Devasnh Rai 53; Pranay Rana 4/40, Himanshu Rai 3/29, Yaseen Shaikh 2/53) beat Islam Gymkhana 210 for 9, 35 overs (Arpit Dhadve 55, Prathmesh Wandre 41; Sidhant Rai 3/41, Sahil Jadhav 2/41). Result: Fort Vijay CC won by 5 runs.

Dadar Union SC 164 for 9, 35 overs (Aadit Degaonkar 46, Owais Shaikh 33; Akash Pawar 3/40, Arush Patankar 2/23, Shiva Maurya 2/37) beat Victory CC 161 all out, 34.3 overs (Aditya Paralkar 44, Pratik Yadav 37; Anuj Giri 3/21, Aadit Degaonkar 2/28, Zaid Patankar 2/35, Ashley D’Souza 2/40). Result: Dadar Union SC won by 3 runs.

National CC 260 for 9, 35 overs (Atif Khan 62, Aayush Vartak 52, Aadesh Rane 41, Roneet Thakur 39; Sai Sanil 3/33, Siddhant Welankar 3/53) beat Karnatak SA 145 for 7, 35 overs (Shaurya Saran 40; Atif Khan 2/38). Result: National CC won by 115 runs.

Superstar SC 102 all out, 35 overs (Aryan Punja 33; Ayush Jethwa 3/36, Atharva Bhagat 2/2, Ruchit Ahuja 2/14, Jugraj Mehta 2/28) lost to Payyade SC 103 for 1, 15.5 overs (Swayam 57). Result: Payyade SC won by 9 wickets.
