Hockey Super League 2023

Mumbai, May 22: Central Railway continued with their impressive run of form and registered a comfortable 4-2 win against a spirited and youthful Sports Authority of India (SAI) in a Super Division match of the Mumbai Hockey League 2022-2023, jointly organized by Hockey Mumbai City and Hockey Mumbai Suburbs, and played at the Don Bosco High School Hockey Turf, Matunga on Monday evening.

The railway outfit quickly picked up steam and seasoned Victo Singh scored through a field effort to put Central in the lead. Nine minutes later Pankaj Singh doubled the lead scoring from open play to take a 2-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.

SAI fought back in the second and scored two quick goals to level the scores. In the 22nd minute Raj Pawar found the target through a field goal and four minutes later Dharmendra Pal converted a penalty stroke to restore parity. But, Central regained the lead in the very next minute when Raies Mujawar hammered home the third goal before Vishal Pillay converted from a penalty corner in the 54th minute to complete Central Railway victory.

Result: Central Railway 4 (Victo Singh, Pankaj Singh, Raies Mujawar, Vishal Pillay) beat Sports Authority of India 2 (Raj Pawar, Dharmendra Pal).
