Chandan fine hat-trick helps D.Y. Patil snatch narrow win

Mumbai: The excellent bowling display from Parth Chandan 4 wicket for 44 runs, including a hat-trick, and Yash Kripal 3 wickets for 44 runs proved effective as Dr. D.Y. Patil SA snatched a close 3-wicket victory against OMNI Global SM in a second round Group-B match of the 2nd LNCC OMNI Global Invitational Under-22 Invitation Cricket Tournament 2021-2022, organised by Lord Northbrook CC under the aegis of Mumbai Cricket Association, and played at the Karnatak SA ground, Cross Maidan.

D.Y. Patil’s electing to field first proved to be perfect decision as Chandan and Kripal picked up wickets at regular intervals and dismissed OMNI Global for 177 runs in 35.1 overs. Neelakash Tambe defied the rival attack making an unbeaten 60 runs. In response D.Y. Patil struggled a bit but managed to reach 178 for the loss of 7 wickets in 39 overs. Shubham Mane scored an unbeaten 44 runs to see the D.Y. Patil reach home.

In another match, Payyade Sports Club romped to a 7-wicket win against Bombay Gymkhana in a Group-C match. Bombay Gymkhana preferring to bat was bowled out for a paltry 124 in 28.5 overs with Aarya Satpute making 41 runs and Payyade bowlers Dev Patel 4 for 36 runs and Atharva Dakve 3 for 22 runs getting the wickets. Later, Payyade without much fuss chased down the target making 126 runs for 3 wickets in just 16.3 overs. Harsh Rane was the leading batsman scoring 66 runs.

Dr. D.Y. Patil bowler Parth Chandan took 4 wickets for 44 runs, including a hat-trick

Shivaji Park Gymkhana (SPG) batsman Roopkumar Yadav smashed a 63-ball 77 runs and bowler Nandan Kamath claimed 3 wickets for 43 runs to guide their team to a fluent 78-run victory against Parsee Gymkhana in a Group-A encounter. Batting first SPG thanks to Yadav’s solid knock piled up a massive total of 238 for 7 wicket in 40 overs. Vansh Devendra chipped in with 33 runs, whiule Anjdeep Lad 3 for 57 and Yash Singh 2 for 24 were Parsee Gym’s successful bowlers. Later, SPG dismissed Parsee Gymkhana for a mere 160 runs in 32 overs. Dashrath Chavan was the lone batsman to score 31 runs.

Brief scores: Bombay Gymkhana 124 all out, 28.5 overs (Aarya Satpute 41; Dev Patel 4/36, Atharva Dakve 3/22) lost to Payyade Sports Club 126 for 3 wickets, 16.3 overs (Harsh Rane 66, Pranay Rana 3/18). Result: Payyade SC won by 7 wickets.

Shivaji Park Youngsters 155 for 9 wickets, 40 overs (Smit Dave 35; Shashwat Jagtap 4/34, Vaibhav Bane 3/20) lost to Victory CC 159 for 2 wickets, 21.2 overs (Prateek Yadav 98 not out (72-balls, 17×4s). Result: Victory CC won by 8 wickets.

OMINI Global S.M. 177 all out, 35.1 overs (Neelakash Tambe 60 not out; Parth Chandan 4/44 (including hat-trick), Yash Kripal 3/44) lost to Dr. D.Y. Patil SA 178 for 7 wickets, 39 overs (Shubham Mane 44 not out). Result: Dr. D.Y. Patil won by 3 wickets.
